Expensive, small, and sounds like the deli is still serving unsafe/past date food like they did when I worked there years ago. Good morning coffee place though.
Quite pricey and they seem to cater to Essex Meadows occupants. They are very"selective" about who worksthere. Many have been turned away for reasons unknown other than? Appearance isn't right for their standards. Don't care for small expensive selection. Lived here for 17yrs. Never have shopped there for more than just a quick needed item if they have it. Rite Aid will have it for 2$ less.
I want to love this place but I'm constantly disappointed or there is always one item on my list that I can't find here.
I love the pastry and bagels when they are fresh, but it seems like every other visit the pasties they have for sale have gone stale or are swarmed by flies. They really need to rotate and check their stock better, especially for what they are charging. That or the health inspectors need to get in there before someone gets food poisoning.
Everything is overpriced and everything is dirty. They had birds flying around the store for months think a few finally died off in there. The new owners don't care about there employees, they only care about their own wallet. One employee that just had open heart surgery, they had doing 4 different jobs throughout the week, like deli, bakery, stockboy, actual titles and paid him I think 15 cents more than minimum wage. The deli sells spoiled meat all the time, they don't rotate and they don't date the salads so one could be a month old that you're buying. The place is just dirty and everything is overpriced, and the new owners are worse than the old ones. I worked there for 7 months, so I have a behind the scenes view. I wouldn't spend any money in this store if I were you.
It's nice to have a less crowded shopping experience than the big chain stores, but the selection here is not very good and everything is far more expensive. On more than one occasion I also received food that was either expired or a day away from it. The chicken they sell has consistently been rotten - just stay away from that if your buying meat, get it elsewhere. I actually developed a habit of checking expiration dates because of Colonial Market.
